Mozambique

Located off the coast of the Indian Ocean, between Tanzania and South Africa, Mozambique is a vast country which has a lot to discover: Stunning and untouched coastline, beautiful plains, and an impressive and rich underwater world.

From luxurious hotel to B&B, Mozambique caters for all budgets and travel style and DiveSail Travel has selected carefully a wide range of accommodation along the Mozambican channel.

We had selected three different areas according to their location (exceptional beaches) and certainly because of the renowned scuba diving sites.

Scuba diving in Mozambique

Exceptional and unforgettable experience all year round!
Mozambique has the almost-pristine condition of many offshore reefs and the chance of landing popular sightings of dolphins, whale sharks, manta rays.
Quality equipments, instruction and certifications are readily available in all of the main coastal areas.
The natural beauty of Mozambican coast offers excellent conditions all year round and provides seasonal humpback whale watching, excellent fish diversity and a fine and mainly untouched hard and soft corals.

Where we are located

We had selected carefully three different underwater environments which have their specialties to present!

Tofo & Barra: The whale sharks Oasis
Considered as the unofficial diving capital it is one of the most popular places in Mozambique to dive and get certified. There is lively subculture and the beach is perfectly amazing!
Corals aren't as plentiful as other part of Mozambique but it is compensated by the manta rays, whale sharks and seasonal humpback whale sightseeing.
If you would like to see Whale Sharks, October to March is the best time to see these magnificent creatures in these waters but it is possible to spot a Whale Shark most of the year.
Seasonal Humpback Whale migration begins in July and finishes in October. The best months for Humpbacks are normally August and September.

Zavora: The Manta Rays sanctuary!
Zavora's reef provides superb cleaning stations for the observation of Manta rays. The reef has excellent macro life and beautiful topography. Sharks, turtles and pelagic fishes are often spotted.
In season numbers humpback whales are always seen. The seasonal Humpback Whale migration begins in July and finishes in October. The best months for Humpbacks are normally August and September.

Pomene: Exceptional Estuary Dive
The area of Pomene has its advantage to accommodate only one lodge which preserves perfectly the environment. The surrounding area is part of the Pomene Natural Reserve which protects the mangrove ecosystems, dunes, forests and marine life.
The lodge and the dive centre is located between the sea and an incredible estuary which has its own and unique ecosystem. Diving in the estuary is a must!
The estuary has a rich fauna and flora to be explored, amazing sea horses, unique and small creatures are always spotted!
Otherwise the area of Pomene offers beautiful sea diving too with amazing topography, and a very lively underwater world, manta rays are also often spotted.
